Ash Wednesday at Our Savior

During the Ash Wednesday service the pastor takes ashes on the end of his thumb and makes the sign of the cross on the forehead worshipers, saying these words: "Remember: you are dust, and to dust you shall return."  This ancient act is a gesture of repentance and a powerful reminder of our need for the cleansing of our sin.  The sign of the cross on the forehead of the worshipper is also a sign of hope and release from sin freely given by our Lord through his work on the cross.

In each of our Wednesday evening Lenten services, we will focus our attention on Jesus - the one who brought us salvation and life through his passion.

Midweek Worship Services begin at 7:00pm on February 17, 2010 and continue through Wednesday, March 24th.

Be our guest at the Lenten Suppers before worship from 6:00pm to 6:45pm, downstairs in the church fellowship hall.
