 Our Savior Choir

“Sing joyfully to the Lord, sing to him a new song”

Our Savior’s Choir is a committed group of singers dedicated to share in the work of the Lord’s Spirit who draws us together into one grand choir of praise. Our music is well rehearsed, well prepared and sung with faith and confidence as we respond to our call to serve God and his people through the ministry of music.

The choir, under the direction of Jeannine Chapdelaine Rath, rehearses every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00pm in the church. We sing approximately twice a month and alternate 8:00am and 10:45am Sunday services.

We are blessed to have as our repertoire a very rich selection of beautiful choral works by the great Masters of Sacred Music along with diverse contemporary choral pieces as well. The choir is well trained and the members take pride in singing prayerful messages with beautiful tone and gorgeous harmonies.

We invite you to come and hear us sing on Sundays and at our Annual Festival of Sacred Music which is held the first weekend in December. We also would like to invite you to join the choir and help share in our music ministry. We enjoy our rehearsal time together which not only provides an opportunity for musical growth but also our weekly camaraderie with plenty of room for jokes and laughter. You need not be a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, to join the choir. A singing spirit, and joyful heart is always welcomed.

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.” (Psalm 9)

     Just a short note to let you know that the choir ended our season with last Sunday’s celebration of Pentecost and Confirmation.    We will resume our rehearsals in September.   The following is the prayer I led at our last choir rehearsal on Thursday, May 28th. I wanted to share this with all of you because you have been such a part of my strength and faith keeping me in your prayers on my journey of healing and recovery. I thank God for you and ask that you continue to keep me in your prayers throughout the summer.
                                                                 Blessings to all,
                                                                Jeannine

Lord of mercy, Lord of love,

We prayerfully gather here tonight for our last rehearsal of the season. It has indeed been a season of many challenges as we journeyed together exercising the virtues of faith, trust and patience.

     ---Faith in your enduring love for each of us
     ---Trust in your continual presence in our lives
     ---Patience as you gently reveal to us to come unto you, for your time is
         not our time.

The gift of who we are to each other as a family that honors and treasures the true meaning of praying for one another, caring for one another and supporting one another is a cherished blessing. And if that were not enough, You, dearest Lord, have chosen us to “be” Your song, to be Your voice, to be Your heart. The sacred songs we sing and play, the messages we articulate with wholesome truth, and the music-making we share are profound and powerful made holy by You.

And so, Lord, bless this night, bless your handiwork in all of us, bless our families and bless our summer. Amen.

================================

We will resume our rehearsals in September. If you’ve been thinking about joining the choir, please take the summer to thinkand pray about your schedule and put aside Thursday for choir night. We always need and welcome more voices to bless our sounds of praise. Watch for the announcement in the August bulletins calling all choir members back to rehearsals.
